Privacy Policy
What This Privacy Policy Covers
We're Mill Valley Roofing, the Mill Valley roofing contractor behind this site. Our office is in Mill Valley, CA, and we're licensed & insured.
This page explains what happens to the information you hand us when you call, submit a form, or ask for a free estimate. It covers millvalleyroofing.com and the job records we keep. It doesn't cover any other company's site you reach through a link from here.
What We Collect When You Ask for a Free Estimate
When you contact us, we collect only what we need to answer one question well: what's happening on your roof, and when can we get eyes on it.
- Your name, phone, and email, so we can return your call about a roof inspection.
- The property address and neighborhood, whether that's Alto, Cascade, Homestead Valley, Strawberry, or Muir Beach, so we can plan drive time.
- Photos you send us: a shingle with granule loss, water that wicks along a valley, rot at a chimney flashing. Those stay attached to your file.
- Inspection findings, including roof pitch, deck condition, underlayment type, flashing condition, and whether we recommend roof repair or a full tear-off.
- Service history, so we know a roof was previously maintained or resealed and we don't redo work you already paid for.
- Your own words in a voicemail or form, including anything you tell us about insurance claim assistance after a storm.
We don't collect payment card numbers on this site. Card details change hands in person or over the phone once a job is booked.
Local Conditions We Note on Every Mill Valley Roof
Coastal fog and morning moisture off Mount Tamalpais change how a roof ages here. So does heavy winter rain from Pacific storms. We keep notes on those conditions because they explain why a roof failed and what to fix first.
- Fog-side slopes that stay damp longer, where moss and end-of-life wear show up years ahead of the sunny side.
- Valleys and penetrations where water seeps in during an atmospheric river and wicks down into the decking.
- Gutters and downspouts that sag or settle under debris blown in from the trees near Muir Woods National Monument.
- Flashing condition at chimneys, skylights, and sidewalls, which is where most of our roof leak detection work starts.
- Whether a roof coating or a lighter-colored shingle would cut heat gain and improve energy efficiency.
- Options for green roofing and sustainability, from cedar shake roofing to metal roofing that can be recycled at the end of its life.
None of that ends up anywhere but your file and our crew's notes. It's what a roofing contractor should be tracking for you anyway.
Cookies and Analytics on millvalleyroofing.com
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Ours do two jobs: keep pages working, and tell us which topics homeowners actually read.
- Essential cookies remember what you typed into a form if you get interrupted mid-sentence.
- Analytics cookies count visits to pages like roof replacement, gutter installation, or skylight installation.
- We see aggregate numbers only, like device type, rough location, and referring search. Your name is never attached to a page view.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site keeps working, and our phone line still answers.
Who We Share Your Information With
We don't sell your information and we don't trade it for leads. Sharing happens only where the job genuinely requires it.
- Our own estimators and crews, who need the address and inspection notes to do the work.
- Material suppliers, when we order slate roofing, cedar shake roofing, or metal roofing cut to your measurements.
- Your insurance company, once you ask us to help with a claim and approve passing along the scope and photos.
- Email and scheduling software we use to run the office, bound by their own confidentiality terms.
- Regulators or law enforcement, only if a valid legal request leaves us no alternative.
How Long We Keep Records, and Why
We keep records as long as they're useful to you, then clear them out. Here's the practical version.
- Estimate requests that never became jobs get deleted once the season turns and the request is clearly stale.
- Completed work keeps its inspection notes and photos while a workmanship warranty could still be claimed.
- Insurance claim files stay as long as your insurer or the claim deadline requires them.
- Contact details come off our follow-up list the moment you ask, even if the job file itself stays open.
Want something gone sooner? Ask. We'll delete it unless it's tied to an open warranty or an active claim.
Your Rights Over the Information We Hold
You can ask us what we have, and you don't need a reason. One call or email is enough.
- Request a copy of everything tied to your address.
- Correct a wrong phone number, email, or spelling of your name.
- Ask us to delete records that aren't tied to a warranty or a claim.
- Opt out of follow-up texts or emails by replying STOP, or just tell us on the phone.
- Withdraw permission to use your photos, review, or quote.
How We Protect Your Data, and When We Publish a Review
Job files stay password-protected and limited to the people doing the work. We don't leave folders in truck cabs or on shared drives, and we don't discuss your roof with neighbors who ask.
When we ask for a testimonial or a photo of your finished roof, we ask first. You can decline and it changes nothing about how we service your roof later. We crop out house numbers and never publish a full street address.
Questions Homeowners Ask About Our Privacy Practices
Do you sell my phone number to other roofers?
No. We're a Mill Valley roofing contractor, not a lead broker. Your number stays with us, and you can ask us to remove it whenever you want.
Will you call me repeatedly after I request an estimate?
We call once to schedule the inspection, once with findings, and once to check in if you're still deciding. If that feels like too much, say so and we'll stop.
What happens to photos I text you of a leak?
They go into your job file and stay there. Our estimator uses them to tell whether water is staining a ceiling or soaking the sheathing. We don't post them anywhere without asking.
Can I get an estimate without handing over my email address?
Yes. Give us a phone number and we'll work from that. Email is convenient for sending a written estimate, but it isn't required.
Do you share details with my insurance adjuster?
Only after you ask us to. With your okay, we send the scope and photos so the adjuster sees the same damage we do, which is where most supplemental claims get resolved faster.
Still have a question about your information? Call 628-313-5855 and ask for whoever's in the office. Estimates are free, and we're licensed & insured.
